No post last night because we were at a Sophie Madeleine show. It was small and overly warm and there were some technical issues...and Sophie and her band were utterly charming. Not to mention talented, of course. It was great. So, in case you don't know who Sophie Madeleine is, here are some videos to get you started. Above, her song Oil & Gold. Next, an adorable fan-made video for her song Take Your Love With Me. She recently embarked on a project to cover 30 songs in 30 days (leading up to the release of her new album, The Rhythm You Started). She's also half of the group Rocky and Balls, with Hannah-Rei. My favorite of their songs (or at least the one that gets stuck in my head most often) is this delightful ode to Jessica Fletcher, entitled, logically enough, Murder She Wrote Song.

Since I just rewatched Harry Potter 7a in preparation for the final episode (which I'm looking forward to, though I know my ass will be numb by the end of the film), I am in a bit of a Harry Potter mindset. Hence this graphic rather tickled me. Not sure if this is the original source; I suspect not, but I could only find reposts. If you are even more amused by the design than I am—amused enough to, say, wear it on a shirt—you're in luck! Here are the shirts you seek.

Okay, so I seem to be on a streak of posting random pictures. Eh, it happens. Today's drawing is a) hilarious and b) a combination of two memes I particularly enjoy: clean ALL the things! and cats. Yes, cats themselves are a meme. Put a bird on it and it's hip, put a cat on it and it's the internet.

I was going to post something entirely different, but all other possibilities were preempted when I saw this photo Afshin posted. Don't know the original context, don't really care. It's unbearably cute and the caption is perfect. I wish I'd seen it as it happened, though I might have exploded from the sheer adorability of it all.

How did I not know this blog existed before? Geek Crafts has been keeping me amused for days now. They've got all the geek bases covered: Star Wars, Star Trek, Scott Pilgrim, Doctor Who, Firefly, Angry Birds, Super Mario, Futurama...well, you get the picture. Anyway, lots of nerdy fun to be had over there. Go take a look.

Sometimes it seems that everything I want comes from Etsy these days. Here's today's addition to the wish list: Han and Leia cuffs. In fact, I like quite a few of the items in the Spiffing Jewelry shop. The shockingly classy Antoine Dodson collar stays, or the Yoda bracelet, for instance.
Thanks to the lovely Jenn for her tweet about these awesome cuffs.

Now I'm not going to try to convince you that they're the world's most practical items, but these skull spoons are beautiful. They are clearly little works of art and, while I wouldn't fill the silverware drawer with them, I could see displaying one under a bell jar. And for $45, it's a pretty affordable piece of art, too. (I know that's a bit expensive for a single spoon, but this is art, not cutlery.) To order one, email the artist, Tom Sale, aka Pinky Diablo.

Well, things only keep getting Nefertiti. In case you missed the relatively inconspicuous announcement a while back, Damn You Autocorrect now has shirts for sale. While Jesus Crust! and I am Asparagus! are classics, I think my favorite is the questionably tasteful but undeniably hilarious Pajama Bin Laden is Dead!.
If you've been living under a rock and don't know of the brilliance of DYAC, check out the autocorrects to which the shirts refer here, here, and here.

This comic cracks me up. I've seen it kicking around online for a few weeks, I think, but it continues to make me snicker every time I see it. Had to share, in case you hadn't seen it previously. And it's probably worth looking at again and being re-amused even if you have already seen it. It's just that funny.
Interestingly enough, it's by Jim Benton, who does all the Happy Bunny shit. Not a fan of that by a long shot, but the comic is great regardless.

The After Matisse rug is awesome. It makes me think of words like kaleidoscopic and phrases like plastic fantastic and movies like Yellow Submarine. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it's not affordable (nothing that says "enquire" instead of listing a price is), but it is pretty fabulous.... You can check out more pictures and more rugs on Sonya Winner's site (flash-based, unfortunately).

Okay, so I don't own (or really know how to ride) a bicycle. I'm still on my second lesson. However, it doesn't mean I don't appreciate bike-related good design and clever solutions. Case in point: this bike shelf (and its apparent predecessor, which is even more attractive and much more expensive). I can see how the form factor wouldn't accommodate all bikes, but it seems like a functional, stylish solution in most cases.

So this is apparently a thing: basset hounds running. Do I know what prompted it? I do not. Am I enjoying it? I am indeed. Look at their semi-cute, semi-terrifying expressions. They're nature's floppy little mistakes. (That's what she said.)

Photographer David Slater got a bit more than he'd bargained for when, while on a trip to a national park in Indonesia, a group of crested black macaques stole his camera...and began snapping pictures of themselves. I have to say, this photo is a fantastic shot, made so much better by the fact that it's a self-portrait. Nicely done, thieving macaques! (Obviously, Slater did get his camera back.)
Which reminded me of another instance of animal theft, this time involving a seagull and a video camera. The footage is pretty hilarious, especially when the asshole seagull beings squawking and pecking at the camera. In order to retrieve his camera, this poor bastard had to climb a castle wall. Check it out:

These musical glasses are pretty clever, if a tad cheaty. I shall not purchase them for my husband, as he already has a propensity to try to make glass music every time he does the dishes. It's amusing the first few times...but I'm not sure he needs the encouragement.

As everyone knows, I'm a bit of a fan of Barbies. Hell, why not? Barbie gets to wear all kinds of awesome things that I don't get to wear. And she can afford Louboutins even when I can't. Bitch.
Anyway, I am quite smitten by this Barbarella-ish (Barbarellish?) Goddess of the Galaxy Barbie. And I know it's not practical, but I would totally wear that. Except that I don't have the legs for it. And I'm bad with platforms. Yeah, so this is obviously why Barbie gets to wear these things and I don't.

After a crazily busy work, I could use a dose of humor. These goatse mugs are just the ticket. Tasteful? Not by a long shot. Funny? Absolutely. Not sure I want to pony up $40 plus international shipping, but they're handmade and hilarious.
