Christian Louboutin, Now in Book Form

Ooh—I just discovered that Rizzoli is putting out a Christian Louboutin book. While not cheap, it's still more affordable than a pair of his shoes.... Naturally, I want it. And the shoes, for that matter. Still, the book's a good start.

(Jon) Hamming It Up

Dear Fug Girls and Jon Hamm (I know you must be excited to be mentioned in the same sentence, ladies): I love you. Jon, for striking such poses at the Emmys. (As well as being a winning combination of hot, a good actor, and quite funny in your occasional 30 Rock appearances.) Fug Girls, for chronicling moments like these.

I couldn't help myself. I just had to share.

Chai Tea S'mores—Commence Drooling!

Since moving to another country, I have been a bit slow to acquire some baking accoutrements...a mixer, for example, or a blender, or, come to think of it, even a pie plate or cookie sheet. For that matter, the pantry is also pretty much devoid of ingredients vital to baking. I think I have white sugar and that's about it. Milk, if there's any left.

Ignoring the reality of the situation (because I do plan on accumulating both ingredients and supplies eventually), I think I need to make these chai tea s'mores at some point in the near future. They look amazing, and combine two awesome things: chai and s'mores. I love the one and consume chai and chai-flavored delicacies whenever possible; the other I haven't had in years but always inspires longing. The only substitution I think I'd make is the chocolate: Hershey's just isn't very good. Tastes a bit like sugary cocoa-flavored plastic. However, knock some high-quality chocolate into those bad boys and we've got a deal!

Yeah, I seriously need to buy baking supplies. Those s'mores must be created and consumed!

A Tragic Tack-o-Rama

This would have been a timely post two weeks ago, but I discovered it late. It's spectacular either way. Allow me to present a roundup of the most godawful 9/11 memorial...things. First, Regretsy featured a compilation of 9/11-themed junk ranging from full backpiece tattoos to cakes to the always-classy van art. (Incidentally, I give the Lego Twin Towers a pass—they're rendered well and somehow the juxtaposition of using a children's toy to depict a tragedy seems all the more poignant. But you might disagree.)

Following the train wreck that was the roundup of 9/11 tack, Regretsy then held a 9/11 gif contest ("healing through gifs"), thus incurring the wrath of the dude who created (and, amazingly, wants to take credit for) the crying eagle image. However, minus further appearances of said maudlin eagle, the Never Forgetsy contest forged ahead, resulting in the following 48 favorites (10 of which are the official winners). My personal favorite? Nyan 11.

Note the lack of tags for this post. I am at an utter loss for how to categorize this one. "Funny" seems inappropriate, "DIY" only sorta, and "art"...hell no.

Jewelry Hides a Multitude of Sins

Because it's Friday. And I love jewelry. And redheads.

Tapes and Measures

I know this seems like a silly thing to find quite as cool as I do, but measuring tape tape is such a good idea! How many times have you needed to measure a wall or something while alone, and then had to deal with the measuring tape retracting, or getting that weird kink in the metal strip and bouncing back and threatening to take out your eye? Happens to me regularly enough that I think having a roll of measuring tape tape on hand would definitely be useful. Stick it to the wall, unroll gently, measure. I have apparently talked myself into buying a roll.

Ankle Corsets. They're a Thing. Really.

Over the weekend I saw a woman wearing what I initially thought were cool shoes that featured some lovely, lacy, lace-up-y ankle straps...but upon closer inspection it turned out that the straps weren't actually connected to the shoes. No, the woman informed me, they're ankle corsets. Had never heard of such a thing, but I have become an instant fan. What a cool way to dress up an otherwise basic pair of pumps.

Best. Dad. Ever.

Apologies for the lack of posts. Have been travelling, sickly, had guests, work's been crazy, etc. This isn't multiple choice, incidentally—all of those things have been happening. Blech.

Anyway, to get back into the swing of things, how about another hilarious autocorrect conversation, this one featuring the world's most awesome dad?

See what I mean?

100 Years of Style in 100 Seconds

Okay, I know it's an ad, but this is pretty rad. (Heh, it's a rad ad. I am so fucking witty.) It shows 100 years of fashion in 100 seconds, along with some kinda funky dancing. Check it. Also, what was up with fashion in the late '80s/early '90s? Those were some of the worst looks....

Google's Mercurial Doodle

Wow. Google has outdone itself with today's video doodle in honor of what would have been Freddie Mercury's 65th birthday. The only thing I kept wishing was that it seemed a little less...well, branded. But it is the Google doodle, so that's kind of a stupid complaint. Here's the backstory, written by Brian May.

Mirror, Mirror on My Dress

reflections on a dance floor

Despite Monday's bank holiday, it's been a long, arduous week. I could do with a bit of glamour and sparkle...hence the Polyvore post. That is one helluva dress. I would wear it in a heartbeat. Also the booties. And the rings. I like the purse, too. Basically, I want this outfit and somewhere to wear it.

Signs of the Times

Hah! Just discovered the Signs collection of jewelry by Chao & Eero. It's a collection of minimalist silver jewelry "inspired by the frequent use of emails and mobile phone messages." Simple and cute.
